I’m originally from the Jersey side of Philadelphia and moved to the Midwest at 18 to attend the University of Chicago. There, I started out in archaeology by volunteering in Kathy Morrison’s Paleoecology lab and working closely with then grad student, Laura Popova (including going on my first dig at a nomadic camp). I continued at University of Chicago and completed my PhD on human-environment entanglements during the 17th - early 20th century in the western Great Lakes.

I’ve conducted archaeological work in Russia, Armenia, Mexico, New Mexico, Indiana, New Hampshire, and Illinois. These projects introduced me to different archaeological methods and approaches—the best of which I incorporate into my own work. I firmly believe that archaeology must be done intentionally and ethically.
